Proverbs 5:1-23

Proverbs 5:1-23

Proverbs 5:22 "His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins."

One cord may be easy to snap, but it doesn't take too many strands of even flimsy thread, and soon it is impossible to snap, regardless of how hard you pull. Like the downfall of the Roman Empire, the downfall of the sinner is his own wickedness. God doesn't warn us from sin to keep us from some forbidden good. God doesn't hate sin because it is something beneficial for us. Sin is evil, and has no good in it. Because God is only good, and love, and light, God cannot sin. When we see sin for what it really is, we will flee from it and avoid it.

James 1:13-16 "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren."
